About Dr. Nancy McCarel
Dr. McCarel is a clinical psychologist in independent practice since
1990 and in Wayne, Pennsylvania since 1993. She is licensed in
Pennsylvania and New Jersey and certified to provide biofeedback
treatment by the Biofeedback Certification Institute of America (BCIA).
In addition to helping adults, adolescents and children, she specializes
in women's health and emotional issues, utilizing primarily Cognitive
Behavioral Therapy methods.

Dr. McCarel obtained her B.A. in Psychology from the
University of Pennsylvania, graduating with high honors in
Psychology. After several years conducting research at
the University of Pennsylvania in the early cognitive
development of infants and young children, she earned M.A.
and Ph.D. degrees in Clinical Psychology at the University
of Delaware. Her clinical work was with the emotional and
behavioral difficulties of children, adolescents and adults,
and she completed a full-time APA |

approved internship year at Friends Hospital in
Philadelphia, PA. Her graduate research focused on the
emotional development of infants and children and early
parent-child attachment relationships. She was involved in
Postdoctoral training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy at the
Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. |
Dr. McCarel has published articles on her research in emotional and
cognitive development in the journals Developmental Psychology, Journal
of Experimental Psychology, and the British Journal of Developmental
Psychology (under her maiden name, Nancy Termine)
After her graduate training, Dr. McCarel expanded her interest in
mind-body health for children, adolescents, and adults. Her clinical
experience includes employment at the Rehabilitation Management
Associates in Philadelphia PA (a multidisciplinary outpatient center for
the treatment of chronic pain), and St. Lawrence Rehabilitation Hospital
in Lawrenceville NJ. She was a staff psychologist at Jeffrey Fine
Associates, P.C. in Newtown, PA and provided outpatient psychotherapy
for children, teens and adults.
In her private practice, Dr. McCarel provides individual and group
psychotherapy for adults, adolescents and children. If indicated,
biofeedback is often utilized as an adjunctive modality in the
treatment. In order to promote optimal mind-body health for patients,
Dr. McCarel works in collaboration with other health care professionals
that are involved in her patients' care.
Dr. McCarel is a member of the American Psychological Association and
Fellow of the Pennsylvania Psychological Association. She is a member
of the Association for Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback, the
Pennsylvania Society for Behavioral Medicine and Biofeedback, and the
Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies.
